What I would like you to do

Honors projects should benefit the entire class not just the honors student.  I created this site to share with you what I have learned this semester.  My hope is that you were able to learn about the World Bank through this web site.

I would like you to go to The World Bank web site.  This link should bring you right to the countries tab.  (If the link does not work, simply go to www.worldbank.org and click the countries tab)  Once there I would like for you to scroll down and find the country that you have been researching all semester and click on it.  Each country's page will be slightly different depending on their involvement with the World Bank.  I would like you to explore your country's page.  In the left column you will find an overview tab and a news and events tab, please read through those for additional information on your country's involvement.

My assignment for you is to come to class on Thursday, December 10, 2009 with a current event and information on your country's involvement with the World Bank.  I will call on people to give a brief description on what they have learned about their country and we will have a class discussion.

The current events may be new projects developing in your country, aid sent over to help fight disease, or how the World Bank is helping your country.  See if you can make any connections to what you have learned about your country as far as economic concerns.  Is the World Bank helping to fix those concerns in anyway?  Maybe better education will help to produce a quality and skilled labor force, in the long run increasing aggregate supply?

If for some reason your country is not involved with the World Bank I would like you to choose a country in a similar region and report on how the World Bank successfully helped that country.
